Our Right to Stay: Reparations and Housing Justice in Roxbury

Reclaim Roxbury is proud to be a Grassroots Community Engagement Partner with the City of Boston, working to deepen public understanding of anti-Black racism and to advance local reparations efforts. As part of this work, we’re launching a powerful new three-part community workshop series titled Our Right to Stay: Home, Justice, and Reparations for Black Boston.

Our first session kicks off on April 15th from 6–8 PM at the Roxbury YMCA, in partnership with Why We Can’t Wait (WWCW). This initial workshop will focus on the historic and ongoing housing harms experienced by Black Bostonians—and how these injustices must be central to any meaningful reparations strategy.

Too often, the conversation around reparations is limited to direct payments. While cash restitution is important, our community knows that repairing harm also means restoring what was stolen—homes, land, opportunity, and power. This workshop series is about building a community-led vision for reparations that addresses systemic harms and sets the stage for transformative change.

We’ll be holding space for residents to share their experiences, connect the dots between housing displacement and structural racism, and help shape tangible strategies and policy proposals for local and state action.

This is just the beginning. Join us for Part One and be part of crafting a reparations strategy rooted in justice, dignity, and the right to stay.
